~~Let's support them BOOBIES!!~~~

Hey all, my name is Amanda. I'm about to bring you on my adventure. So, listen up. ...I know one way or another you've been affected by this disease. What if you woke up one day, had your coffee, and went to your front porch, grabbed the newspaper and the headlines read: "A woman died every 13 minutes yesterday to invasive breast cancer."...Then, the next day you had breakfast with your mother and the paper read: "Today again, every 13 minutes a woman will die of breast cancer. Who will it take next?"
Can you imagine reading the paper like that for the rest of your life? I didn't think so.

I need your help.. I am looking to make change in my life and the lives of others. I never grew up with a grandmother, I lost both of them to different kinds of cancer. My maternal grandma died at 32, sadly, she left 5 children behind, from ages 8-18, and I lost my paternal grandma when she was 50. I was about 7 yrs old when she passed away, and to this day I wish she could have known me now. I know she would be so proud of me, and what I am about to embark on.

I will be trekkin 60 miles in the heat of Los Angeles in October of 2002. If there was a cure for all the diseases and viruses of the world, I would take that challenge and walk to the ends of the earth. I will walk 20 miles a day, one foot after the other, and joined by 4,000 other walkers. We will walk from morning to dusk, walk into the mobile city, and pitch my tent. I will have blisters on my feet, and I'm going to kick myself in the butt for getting myself into this. HOWEVER.. no matter how much I may suffer those 3 days, there will be 1 MILLION WOMEN THIS MOMENT, WITH **UNDETECTED INVASIVE BREAST CANCER**. NEARLY 183,000 WOMEN WILL FIND OUT EACH YEAR, AND 80% OF THOSE WOMEN WILL HAVE NO GENETIC PREDISPOSITION TO THE DISEASE....and I will remember, that I am not the one suffering at that moment. That number does not include the women and men who have non-invasive, benign systs, and all the other variations of breast cancer problems.

So feel free to check out my page, and please sign my guesbook.. I love to hear from you guys.
